VMS Software, the company behind the OpenVMS operating system, has recently published all videos from 2026 European OpenVMS Bootcamp, the major conference on everything OpenVMS. Mimer Information Technology AB was represented with two presentations:
- Chananya Pomkaew, software engineer responsible for Mimer’s state of the art AI integrations, gave a very well received talk on the topic of accessing data from a Mimer SQL database, using agents and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- The Mimer Model Context Protocol enables an AI agent to interact with the Mimer SQL database and any legacy system using Mimer SQL on that platform can make all data available for today’s and tomorrow’s AI tools and integrations. For example can an agent query the data, not only for content but also for meta data, in order to understand the table structure and make deductions and analyses, such as dashboards and optimization recommendations.
- Karl-König Königsson, sales and product manager, gave a talk on the subject of migrating a major financial institution from Oracle Rdb to Mimer SQL together with our partner Fernando Rocha.
- Profuturo is Mexico’s third largest retirement fund manager, undergoing a major modernization project, but wanting to keep as much of their legacy code intact as possible. They have close to 12.5 billion records in their systems that will have to be migrated to Mimer SQL as part of this and Fernando Rocha, head of the chilean company ARS, is managing this migration to Mimer SQL. This talk was about the experiences Mr. Rocha and his team at ARS have had during this process, and the work Mimer Information Technology AB has done to make the migration to Mimer SQL as smooth as possible.
