ISO/IEC JTC1/SC32, WorkGroup 3, Database Languages is the committee whose mission it is to standardize SQL. Its members include representatives from IBM, Oracle and Upright. SQL-92 is an earlier version of the ISO standard for SQL from 1992. It contained three levels: Entry, Intermediate and Full. Transitional SQL-92 is a subset of the SQL-92 standard defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). So far, Mimer SQL is the first and only database management system to fully support this standard. SQL-99 is the current version of the ISO standard for SQL from 1999. It comprises Core SQL and a large number of extensions. SQL-200x is the working name for the next version of the SQL standard. |
