Mimer SQL Mobile in new Chinese smart phone
Yulong Telecommunication in Shenzhen, China, launches their new 3G flagship product, the Coolpad N900 smart phone. The N900 uses Mimer SQL Mobile as embedded database management system for all persistent data storage on the phone. This Windows CE based phone is developed by Yulong together with China Telecom, and is China Telecom’s high-end 3G smart phone. It is the first dual network (CDMA/GSM) smart phone with dual SIM card support in the world. The N900 also supports China Telecom’s E Surfing mobile communication service.
In the new Coolpad N900 smart phone, the built-in Mimer SQL Mobile database server is responsible for all data management. This has given Yulong’s application developers access to the full SQL feature set, making it possible to use advanced database features like stored procedures, triggers and referential integrity when building the applications for the address book, messaging, calendar, music, photos, etc. All data on the phone is possible to share between the different applications under full concurrency control.
“The Chinese 3G market is growing fast, and our ambition is that Yulong becomes a leading brand on this market. We made a thorough database evaluation when the development of the Coolpad N900 smart phone started, and we found that Mimer SQL Mobile meets all our tough requirements on functionality, performance, and footprint. Mimer SQL Mobile also gives us a very attractive licensing cost level”, says Li Wang, Chief Operating Officer at Yulong Telecommunication. “The support from Mimer during development of our new flag ship smart phone has been excellent, and we are confident that the N900 will be very successful on the Chinese market”, concludes Li Wang.
